Everyday we make numerous choices. One of which is to decide who surrounds us. In a five-minute motivational speech, Lewis Howes of entrepreneur.com gives insight into how the people in our life greatly contribute to our successes and failures.
"Surround yourself with those who see the greatness within you, even when you don't see it in yourself." - Edmund Lee
What I found most noteworthy is how Lewis Howes ends the speech. He talks about his humble backgrounds and how far he has come. He says that early on in his life his coaches instilled a winner’s mindset and that’s why he is where he is today.
In this speech, Howes also tells us that we only have one life to do greatness. In that, we must master our skills to become someone we want to become, but we must first do something we’ve never done before. One such thing we must change is the people we associate. Howes says we must ditch the average minded individuals in our life and seek out the positive, inspiring people we see instead. The ones that stand out in the crowd and don’t take no for an answer. They push the boundaries and they will push us too. Those who tell us we can't do something or that we are unworthy of becoming what we aspire to be are simply projecting on us. We must cast those people aside to eliminate all negativity from our path to success. We must instead find those who lift us higher.
