Having sleep troubles? So are many others. In fact, one study published estimated that 32 to 45 percent of older adults have some sort of trouble with sleeping. One might start with upgrading a mattress, sheets, and the whole setup, but researchers now offer another solution.
Neurologist Jason Ong led research on more than 800 participants who were 60 years of age or older. In this research, participants divulged their sleep patterns and did a simple questionnaire that assessed their feelings around both what they did in the past and on their hopes for their future endeavors. The result? Those who rated as having more meaning in life also reported having less sleeping troubles like sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome. These people only needed a sense of purpose in life. No more drugs, sleeping masks, or even new mattresses.
